Like, it's totally filled with cash and credit cards. Like, you totally don't need anything other than that. Oh ya, I have on towel for each person. Oh mah gawd, I'm like totally prepared for the total collapse of society.

BoB is last resort, small arms with ammo, water kit, fire kit, shelter kit, weighing under 10% of body weight. SHTF I would not want to leave my cache and knowledge of local area.

BoB is you need to go immediately, will need some short term supplies, and you shouldn't waste time having to gather them at that moment.

Flashlight, compass, paper map, 4x MRE stripped to essentials (I swap these out once a year, and eat MREs once a year for 4 days), 2 mags for each of the I could have had them on me freedom dispensers, 2 mags for the long version freedom dispenser that is with the bag. filled camelback (rotate the water monthly if sealed properly and check inner liner), passport book, a small amount of cash, first aid kit, 2 lifestraw, a pocket knife (i dont always carry one), a few single edge razor blades, 100' para cord, poncho and liner (old school USMC version), fire starting devices, spare brace for lower back (old age setting in, and i dont wear it often, but hiking i like it), 3A armor (no hip plates or anything fancy, just back and chest plates, which are due for replacement next year).

comes out to about 35% of my body weight. a bit much. but its not humping half my weight for 25 miles a day for 2 days, which sucked balls, but damned if my commander didnt want to have one under his units belt for bragging rights. Not to count the 6 weeks we did single 18 milers once a week and the 2 weeks we did 18s twice a week with barracks at night in prep.

All in all, I can still live with 35% if I've got to march for a while. I wont go as fast as I used to, or as far, but I can still go.

My bag is more of a get home bag, in case for some reason I have to get home on foot. EMP or some such shit. There is the usual light weight camping stuff that changes some with the seasons. Extra socks and foot powder and sturdy boots. While I wasn't in the Infantry, I did learn the importance of taking care of my feet while in the Marines. Don't forget, a small first aid kit.
