Sleep is a manifestation of balance, the balancing to being awake. If you had a species that do not need sleep, that species probably is never that much awake either, as balance is an undeniable aspect of existance.

So most species across the universe will have some form of sleep, or resting periods, in order to regain energy.

I don't question it, I simply enjoy it.

Only ones I can think of are insects, but I dont know. I think all mammals do?

Insects sleep. Flies and moths are the easiest to find.

There are many animals that go into some sort of very low energy periods, like fish.
