Over the past few months I have noticed an amazing number of "new" people introducing themselves that have accounts that are 2 years old or so. I wouldn't think anything of it if it were just an occasional thing. But it has be a lot. Seems odd to me, almost as if someone just created a whole bunch of accounts a couple years ago and is now bringing them all to life for whatever reason.

You guys think there is anything to this or am I overthinking it? I'm just curious what others think.

2 years ago was voat exodus + Final months of Trump/Biden campaigns.

As election cycle begins again, those accounts are being reactivated and creating posting histories to more effectively influence discussion.

I stopped posting forever ago and started lurking when I watched posts with good content constantly get moved. To me, it looked like content was being curated, and I didn't wish to participate in a curated space.

I logged in recently out of morbid curiosity, but I'll go back to lurking once my login expires.

Not just that. Newvoat has been dramatic lately with troll problems and a general content drought. I quit this place because it has its own brand of drama, and was and still is a red/blue handle circlejerk.

Recently been having to check both for better coverage.

These type of necro accounts have been popping up for awhile. I have noticed quite a frfew more recently. It seems to come in waves.

Almost all the info on poal about trump is already controlled. Most of it comes from the Q nonsense larp. Fedbots, fedbots everywhere.

I've been on poal since voat closed. Love this place. The collective mind broadly aligns to my world view. The content and discussion is educational and valuable.

I have mad respect for what AOU does, but it seems that he does tend to go off. Really, I don't blame him given all the BS that gets thrown his way. But, somehow, I got on the wrong side of him. Guess I didn't say 'fuck all jews' loud enough. (My approach to the jewish problem is a bit nuanced ... long story.) That's OK, I don't mind. His site, his rules. I respect that. I'm not paying the bills ... he can do what he wants.

Needless to say: at some point, I got the -100 point ban hammer which forced me to re-introduce myself before I could post. I guess the normal response would be to create an alt, but I don't care - imaginary internet points don't matter. So, I re-introduced myself and continued to be me. :)

*** This, 100%. *** Casual user for almost two years and level 7+ suggested a software web service without knowing development for the tool was out of Israel and got pushed to level 0, assigned my cool new flair. I needed to reintroduce myself, can't participate in polls, search, or see users details any longer.

Look at the details of my account - I have hundreds of posts and comments, I bet the others your seeing are similar.

Getting pushed back is a huge demotivator, especially on a site where levels seem to grow using the Fibonacci sequence. Talking to AOU accomplished nothing except me realizing the primary goal of the site was very different than what I thought coming in.
