What gets me is how people in the west use "Latino/Latina". The only "Latinos/Latinas" should really just be people from Romania/Italy/France/Spain/Portugal, as their modern languages directly descended from the Latin language.
I don't refer to myself as "Germanic", "Anglo" or "Nordic". So why do we tolerate Hispanics referring to themselves as "Latino/Latina"? It's dumb.
I'll correct the next Hispanic person I see when they refer to themselves as "Latino/Latina". "You're not Latin. Unless you're from Latin-language derived Europe. You were born in the west, hence you're Hispanic. Get it right"
Good luck with your demand that everyone adjust their language to suit you. How very progressive.
No one considers Spaniards to be latinio. That word has a meaning different than what you think. Language is an ever changing tool. The common meaning is the meaning.
