Depression is caused by a number of things, namely low self-esteem and low sense of self-worth, shame and regret, or lack of self-control. Lack of self-control leads to people into not living up to their potential and therefore not having meaning in their lives. Lack of self-control is a huge culprit as a cause for depression. So many people are distracted all the time, yet desire to do great things with their lives, but because they have no self-control or discipline they dont work to achieve their goal. This causes a kind of dissonance in peoples minds between what they wish they were doing and what they’re actually doing. and they end up becoming depressed. That’s why I’ve always said the best cure for depression is doing something that you’re proud of. It will cure every cause of depression.
