Exactly my point. Trauma causes lasting damage. It becomes PTSD when you cannot cope with it and self-destruct. And before you get latched onto that word again— being paranoid, becoming an alcoholic, being an insomniac, developing antisocial behavior, or becoming suicidal all fall within the realm of self-destruction.
