I often think of Washington's men , starving , diseased , barefoot , leaving bloody footprints in the snow to capture the Hessians in Trenton. We all owe so much to our forefathers
Remember Robert E Lee. Offered command of US Army by Lincoln but chose loyalty to his native Virginia because he knew he could trust his neighbors more than a conniving government in DC. He probably knew that he couldn't win the war but chose to fight for his state's independence.
