Should you become an adult at 18 and be allowed alcohol? Should alcohol be outright banned? Do you agree with the saying if you are old enough to fight and die, you are old enough to drink? Is 21 fine? Would you rather it was 16 like in Europe?

So children should be able to to behave like adults because you trust the parents to police it? I disagree with you there. We'd have 8 year olds drinking and smoking because it's "their right"

It's not a problem in France.

If it's a problem, prosecute for child abuse. Let a jury decide.

How can you prosecute it if it's legal? You know the legal age in France for alcohol is 18?

So... first of all... the drinking age isn't 18. That's for buying hard shit by yourself. The letter of the law is... more nuanced.

In practice, the boundaries are mostly social and cultural. Things may have changed recently, but the kids drinking at 8 are getting heavily watered wine from their parents to teach them pairings and shit.

Now you could say that this is also child abuse, but I would say let a jury decide.

And there are all kinds of laws that are in practice not enforced, but can be if people make nuisances of themselves.

Ultimately, they don't have problems we have with teenagers binge drinking that we do, because our kids are taught to drink by a frat guy in a frat house at a frat party, whereas the the French are taught to drink by their parents in their home at dinner.

Not my kids I dont care.

Now you're talking subversion by the government. That's the problem. Our government is hostile, schools are hostile. Our children are bombarded with decrepincy by everyone they're exposed to. The latest being gender dysphoria. I advocate home schooling for this very reason. I even helped start a school many years ago to send my children to because I didn't like the institutions back then.

Yeah, but you need laws. You can't make it legal for 8 year olds to drink. Imagine ads aimed at kids and cigarette products aimed at them. It's cool to be anti government, but alternative is big corporations being 100 times worse than they already are

You need laws against subversion. Imagine if you didn't have people purposely subverting society. You probably can't because you've never been alive when a group of people weren't subverting us. Laws are used to control people hostile to the people in charge. That would be us. We are being controlled by criminals running the country. Now, if you're part of the criminal cabal subverting society, then I understand your position.
