Imo There's some validity to the 'opinions, surmises and viewpoints of alternative history he expresses' however as with everything that can-not be proven absolutely whatever actual truths it might contain are mired among a cornucopia of (many times unknowingly or unwitting by the author) falsity, conflation, misdirection and guesswork .... I usually read view these subjects with the default of never to believe anything absolutely - 'The trip is the journey something something' ....
