Good old 60/40 lead tin alloy with rosin core flux. I hate that new RoHS crap solder that doesn't stick well even if you add more flux. I keep spools of the good stuff around to fix the inevitable cracked and cold solder joints that the RoHS stuff causes. There's nothing quite like the smell of lead and rosin in the morning.
I only use the kester leaded solder. The ROHS shit don't flow.
Kester is definitely good. I also like to keep some Ersin multicore around for when I need a little more flux but don't want to put any liquid or paste flux on. I still have a roll or two of Radio Shack 60/40 from circa 1990 around the bench somewhere. Going to keep those since they are now a part of history and irreplaceable.
Nice, I got a ton of Radio Shack rolls but spent them all up. Keep those around they are part of history. I miss 80-90s radio shack so much. Go in and ask for the bible tick off what you wanted. Those were the days.
