I would compare the situation to someone trying to lift 200 pounds while someone is trying to prevent you from lifting 200 pounds. For a really big and strong guy, you might need to imagine more weight. The point is that the person lifting is always going to lose to the person trying to prevent the lift unless the person lifting completely takes the opponent out of the picture. If the person preventing the lift is allowed to operate, he will win, because his task is easier. The real life situation is complicated and the one preventing uses deception to achieve their victory. If you're a strong man, 200 pounds shouldn't be too hard to lift, but if someone secretly added an extra 200 on there, it would become impossible for most guys.
This is why I tend to think of left vs right as actually up vs down. The left is always trying to remove boundaries and lower standards. There is a point when right is too much, when the authorities demand you walk up a vertical wall unassisted by anything. Yeah, you can't do that. The level of up before the 60s was quite right, and we definitely don't need things to go any lower than what they've gotten. Things will continue going down as long as those who wish to prevent the lift are still allowed to operate.
