Yeah that's true. When i was in high school in the 90's on the last day of high school our grade 12 councilor called me into his office over the PA. I though fuck what did I do now?. He closed the door to his office and said "have a seat". He said "i want to talk to you about your attitude since this was my last year and I'll be retiring." " You are one of the only kids in this school who thinks for himself. School is about breaking you and conforming you but you have resisted and I see you think for yourself, I just want you to never change that-OK?" I stood up, thanked him and wished him well and told him I thought he was a great guy. The point is they've been trying to get everyone to conform since who knows when. I don't conform. If the style is black, I wear white. Also question everything and always be willing to change your point of view if someone produces evidence or defeats your argument.
