Do you eat sugar, food with sugar added to it, or drink alcohol? If so, STOP. It's mostly caused by blood sugar imbalances.
Are you a fat ass? Eat a high protein, high fat, low carbohydrate diet with NO sugar or alcohol. Drink a lot of fluoride free water. No sugar water or diet drinks. Just fluoride free water. You'll lose the weight.
Take an Iodine, Zinc, and Selenium supplement starting immediately. Don't OD on the stuff, but take the daily recommended dose. Deficiencies in any of these three can cause it.
Make sure you aren't exposed to a lot of toxic chemicals, either in your food or environment.
If you have allergies or otherwise get body inflammation, figure out what's causing that and eliminate it. The latest fad is gluten, you could try cutting that out to see if it helps.
Taking prescribed drugs should be an absolute last resort until you do everything above. If your doctor doesn't recommend these things first, finding a new doctor is your #1 priority.
