I went in for a physical last week. Doc says I have hypothyroidism. I think he wants to start me on pills, which I hate. I feel fine. Just curious what other people have done and their experiences

Be very careful with those pills. As far as I'm aware once you get on them you have to take them for life, since they make your thyroid completely unable to produce it's own hormones. Very weird your Dr is so eager to start you on thyroid hormone pills before trying out all other options.

If I was you I would check my iodine levels, could be you have a deficiency that could cause underactive thyroid.

Had this exact same thing. Found iodine, problem totally resolved.

Thats only true if your thyroid is actually disfunctional. Healthy thyroids will eventually revert to producing hormones, it might take longer on certain people, however. Weaning off the medication works. The main issue is that its still tough to figure out who has a punctual issue or a chronic one.
