I know there are some very intelligent anons on here. My wife needs help with arthritis. She has tried all the medications given for this but she is getting pretty bad. Elbows and hips. She almost can't climb steps. The scary thing is swallowing. A few times a year when she eats, the first bite leads immediately to hiccups and can't swallow for 10 or 15 minutes. Now it's a couple times a month. 10 years of doctors blame it on arthritis and prescribe things that don't help. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I worked in kitchens for years. Consequently, my knife hand became riddled with joint pain, numbness, nerve problems, etc. Similar problems with my knees and feet. Now, I try to have collagen-rich broth more often, and supplement my morning coffee with powdered collagen (the more varied the sources, the better, e.g. Types I, II, III, V, and X). I eat healthier on the whole as well. It seems to help.

I hope you and your wife find something that works.

This.

We used to eat the whole animal, now we only eat very small and specific parts.

Eat more meat, as in more of the animal, different parts, and that broth will have a lot of good stuff we usually miss out on.

Full disclosure I have no expertise in this area.

Look into Shawn Baker. He's a surgeon who found that many of his patients were able to avoid joint replacement from arthritis by changing their diet.

I will. Thanks. Diet is the only thing left.

Diet is everything, it's a shame it's your last resort when it should have been your first. Not blaming you but blaming your doctor. They did it to me too.

Stop eating (((carbs))). Not sure if it will work for arthritis but arthritis is an inflammation issue and (((carbs))) are the cause of the vast majority of those.

Add boron to the diet changes mentioned. It is for overuse (osteo) arthritis, but has anti-inflammatory properties as well, so it may help her. Most soil is boron depleted due to our farming practices. It was banned in Aus because a agriculture specialist realized that arthritis was more prevalent in areas with boron poor soil. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4712861/ I also bought a red light therapy flashlight off eBay, and that really helps overworked joints. It causes your immune system to repair the join faster than it naturally would.

My 96 year old neighbor has severe arthritis, especially in her hands and knees. She tried CBD and said she was amazed how much it relieves her pain.

Same story with my 16 year old dog. She was limping badly. Vets said it's arthritis and there is nothing to help her except fish oil (which had no effect). As a last resort, I got some 20:1 ratio CBD:THC liquid. A couple of drops in her food and her limp disappeared immediately.

Study Finds High-dose Intravenous Vitamin C Reduces Pain and Inflammation in Those with Rheumatoid Arthritis as Reported in a Recent Paper Published by Riordan Clinic Scientists

https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/study-finds-high-dose-intravenous-vitamin-c-reduces-pain-and-inflammation-in-those-with-rheumatoid-arthritis-as-reported-in-a-recent-paper-published-by-riordan-clinic-scientists-182195661.html

Study mentioned in the article above:

Effect of high dose intravenous ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) on the level of inflammation in patients with rheumatoid arthritis

https://files.catbox.moe/0asbmb.pdf

I sometimes have problems with my sinuses which I have been treating effectively with high dose oral Vitamin C for years, and can testify it's more effective than anything any Dr ever gave me.

According to that study, arthritis would need even higher doses which should be administers over IV. There are wellness clinics that provide this kind of treatment, look them up in your are if you are interested.

Here is more info on High Dose Vitamin C uses, but I'm not sure if there is anything specifically about arthritis: https://poal.co/s/Health/583017

Stay away from doctors

Fish oil, turmeric and ginger since they are anti inflammatory. Fast and only eat in a 4 hour window per day and focus on protein. Sugar (corn syrup) and refined flour (bread) are killers If you are sitting still you are dying..exercise! You don't have to lift weight just walk! Think of exercise like when you were a kid, just walking around.

I got told I have osteoarthritis in my hips. It sucks. Aleve, motrin both work ok, but started noticing weird dry patches and itchy skin... Bought 2500mg Tumeric and Black Pepper capsules off Amazon. After a week, I feel pretty good, if not better than any OTC med. I would try it.

I've been letting her read the replies. She is definitely gonna check into that. Thanks.

My wife has read all these replies. She asked me to thank you all. Thank-you. She is actively investigating all. When I really want real information, I ask POAL!

Many of the responses had to do with diet. I mentioned my mom taking water kefir. Water kefir is a probiotic (good bacteria) that attacks bad bacteria in your gut. When we eat bad/greasy foods, harmful bacteria such as candida and others create colonies in our guts. It is amazing what happens to a person when they introduce good bacteria and flush the bad. Most ailments can be cured when a person focuses on gut health.

My mom couldn't open her hands, and now she is completely fine for years afterward.

The trouble swallowing/hiccup thing could be a mediastinal mass pressing on her esophagus. You would need a chest xray.
