It seems pretty clear to me that we're fucking up the ecosystem at a freakish pace. I've hunted and fished all my life and I've watched beautiful, wild-ish places turn into suburbs. That's what I think we've lost most of. Not massive wild lands, but the wild-ish places that as a kid, I could get lost in. Places that could still manage to hold deer, bear, moose, etc, but are now subdivided and lawn. I feel like the whole climate-change thing is a distraction while they loot the actual ecosystem. What's the fucking point of worrying about climate change in a hundred years when all the nice places that you could go to clear your head are gone? I live in one of the few places where there is still some big wilderness, and loads of pockets of smaller wilderness. All the fuckers are moving here though, and subdivisions are doing the same shit. Whenever people talk about climate change, I tell them to worry about things that are actually real. There's plenty of those things. Fuck off we're full.

They did an incredibly good job of conflating your "carbon footprint" and your impact on "climate change" and actual Environmentalism.

Pesticides and plastics are what we need to worry about.

I don't know where you are, but I remember growing up, and just seeing fields full of fire-flies during the summer, and thinking it was so magical.

I haven't seen them like that in a long time.

*this.

Forever chemicals in the water, soils loaded with pesticides. Where are all the birds I use to hear? CO2 is a natural thing, not a poison. The petrochemical industry has run roughshod over the whole planet, no one os untouched. I use to think there was more natural and open area on the globe, then I spent time on google earth. Zoom in anywhere, there’s people, where there’s people, the chemicals follow.

Fascinating, man. I remember the last time I saw a field full of fireflies. I remember the exact field. It was the late 90's. That and the damn frogs. All gay. Every last one.

I've got fireflies in my front yard.

The only fireflies I see are the niglets I set on fire in the front yard

I've got fields of spotted lanternflies, and roaming gigantic European hornets that hunt them down. Does that count?

Only if I can set up a trailer on your property.
