I had a boss who wasn't impressed by anything and always thought I was a dumbass for some reason. I worked hard and produced a lot but there was some block in his brain that prevented him from appreciating it. It wasn't until the day I turned in my resignation that all of a sudden I was radically appreciated and I should stay and what can we do and so on.
Think maybe they always expected to fire me, not for me to leave. I know they talked about it.
There's got to be a psychological name for this.
One of my friends resigned like you did but right after taking a long vacation where unused vacation was not paid out. The reports from the office were that the asshole boss was fuming and losing control, haha. I was so proud of him.
