I still don't get how Americans lost the ability to have a brain for language. They act like subtitles are kryptonite.
Because English IS the universal language. Everyone who wants to exceed in any facet of modern life learns english.

Sure it does. Americans don't have to learn other languages because everyone else learns English. America is made up of the Europeans who would not live under Autocratic rule.
Subtitles are annoying as shit. They clog up real estate on the screen, and often lag ahead or behind what is actually happening. Subtitles are for the hearing impaired, or for when characters mumble and have poor evolution, which ironically, is often in American television.
I use subtitles because my wife talks during movies and shows.
