I'm trying to scope around a little for what jobs are where and it seems that there is a SERIOUS drop in software development jobs since ie 10 years ago.

Also it looks like Monster / Indeed's sites have seriously tanked on their interface, usability and information reported.

Agreed on all these points, also keep in mind that cloud resulted in needing a much smaller workforce. It's not uncommon for a good architect to use tools like Ansible / Chef / Terraform to automate the maintenance of 100+ servers.
