I'm trying to scope around a little for what jobs are where and it seems that there is a SERIOUS drop in software development jobs since ie 10 years ago.

Also it looks like Monster / Indeed's sites have seriously tanked on their interface, usability and information reported.

IMO, lower level development positions like webdevs, java devs, are mostly outsourced to H1's these days.

If you go into more specialized fields like cloud infra*, ML/data science, systems engineering, backend dev, etc. you will find more positions available, as companies are desparate for competent technical minds.

*Depending on what type of cloud infra you go into, it may all be H1's again.

Edit: Indeed and monster suck. TBH linkedin isn't half bad when it comes to findin work. Other smaller startsups like Hatch IT are a better option than monster and ind33d.

Thanks this appears to be providing much better results!

Monster is the best way to learn Indian names.

Agreed on all these points, also keep in mind that cloud resulted in needing a much smaller workforce. It's not uncommon for a good architect to use tools like Ansible / Chef / Terraform to automate the maintenance of 100+ servers.
