You can probably get a cloned bush to grow, I have seen pictures of some growing in the Vancouver, Canada area.

Yaupon holly grows in the US and can be made into a tea- it contains caffeine!

I grow Camellia sinensis var. sinensis

I believe it's cold Hardy to zone 6.... you may be successful with it on a porch all the way up there, but I doubt it would enjoy an unprotected winter outside.

good luck!

Tea leaves come from a camellia species. They can be grown outdoors in the south but need to be potted, taken indoors, and kept cool before it freezes farther north. If happy they ill bloom in the late fall or early winter.

So I gotta wait a year. Damn

It's not the blooms that make tea. It's the leaves, which you can pull off at any time. It may be tough finding a camellia for sale at a greenhouse if you don't live in the south. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camellia_sinensis
