House battery project is almost done but the required terminating resistor is AWOL. I only have a couple 100s and lots of 470s. I could get close by paralleling 2 100s and put another 100 in series --> 150 Ohms. Or parallel four 470s --> 118 Ohms.

I don't know about the tolerances for Modbus termination. Anyone know if a single 100 Ohm resistor has a chance of working?

Edit: Cable length is about 29 ft (~9 meters) Cat6

'Frankenresistor' :D It's a quality build, measures right at 115. Used Sn60Pb40 solder, no worries.

We have factory shut down until January 9th. After that I'll be able to borrow the correct value. Glad we could have some fun. Let's see how it goes.

It's so much more than a joke because it's objectively better for connections etc. I wonder how much life is been chopped off modern electronics due to this lead-free garbage.

A few major plagues come to mind. The Red Ring of Death from the XBox 360 (I think it was that), many high end graphics cards, a few models of LG and Samsung phones and nearly every BGA device now and in the coming years. It's as bad as the electrolytic capacitor plague. And throw on there the whole "tin whiskers" problem that has killed or partially disabled a number of satellite since the 90s. RoHS was such a stupid idea because chinkland uses so many more hazardous substances in semiconductor and PCB manufacture than lead-based solder could ever amount to. I'll stick to my SnPb solder as long as I can. Got to stock up for the long haul.
