It actually is, but I use some custom protections. Our host also has an anti-DDoS later running.
Anyone with a little experience could take voat down. It was so poorly coded, they supposedly needed thousands of dollars per month to pay for a decent hosting that could handle the resources hungry code.

lol not even close. All news aggregators use a similar look, but features and backends work differently.
I can run Poal on the Pi2 (that's what I used for debugging purpose).

Poal was originally based on Throat fork (used by phuks.co and some other websites), but it wasn't really designed for mobile browsing, so I rewrote lots of things and added plenty of new features since.
