I should go to a single 48-port with some SFP cages switch. What do you like?

Cheapest 10gig is probably 3750E-48T with CVR-X2s and it takes a 15.0 image (but won't take 15.1 or 15.2).

Cheapest 1gig is probably 3750x-48t with C3KX-NM-1G. Same image limitations.

10gb fiber isn't a requirement, would be nice to have. I'm more interested in getting better silicon as all I use the fiber for is routing to a couple of remote devices where fiber is a better choice, and the main WiFi point in the house. This is a Mikrotik something-or-other, I can't remember their naming conventions.

The Cisco CBS220-48T-4X Smart Switch would work, as would the Mikrotik CRS354-48G-4S+2Q+RM. I've already ordered a Mikrotik RB3011 to replace my aging RB2011, but that's only because the 2011 can only source about 150-200mbps from the incoming line, depending on what else it's doing at the time. It's still a great router and might wind up in a friend's stack, or more likely as a warm spare in mine. The switches themselves run about 550ish, which is in my budget range. Anything more than that would be overkill. At least, for now.

The biggest issue I'm running into now is the Trendnet switches I chose 10 years ago, while great switches that have provided 24/7/365 coverage since they were turned on, are really running up against limits. They'll comfortably do 500mbps on the LAN side, but with file transfers getting to the hundreds of gigs, it's starting to be a bottleneck. Again, they'll probably go to someone else or go on the shelf for a few years as spares until the old stuff gets proven.

Other option is a place I used to work and still consult for at times has a stack of nice SOHO Cisco devices in the rack, and they're down to using 1 of the stack we bought. These would easily do 800+ mbps point to point on the switch, and that's to a Synology system similar to mine. If I can convince them to sell the devices they aren't using off (and all will go offline soon in favor of a new company's network) then those would serve my small office for years. The Trendnet switches will too, but if I can upgrade, why not?

3750x-48t with c3kxnm1g is cheaper. I'm guessing >$250. But it doesn't offer a fancy GUI like with your CBS. If you want a GUI, to help with configuration, then a 3560cg might be cheap. Added bonus is they're small and quiet but often don't ship with mount.

Check ebay and buy from somebody who offers 30 day warranty.

That 3750x switch Offers 100 mpps and 1gig line rate on every port. Buy one that has a filename of universalk9 something. the logs are usually published on the ebay post.

I don't know anything about wireless.

Interesting, thank you. I'll add those to the list of possible purchases.

Wireless I could care less about. I'm in a dense area, there are so many APs on the air that you can't hold anything more than a Wireless-G connection. The only reason it has a fiber line is because the AP has some ports on it that feed the area it's in when I have guests and we want to play a game or something. Everyone plugs in.
