Yeah, not sure what the other guys problems are. There's zero advantage to getting an expensive newer model switch except to get newer software featuresets or if you need oem support. In 95% of cases there's nothing a $8,000 9300 can do that a $100 3750x won't do. Everything as of 10 years ago is available line rate, non blocking ports. Doing macsec and eigrp? OK maybe you need a more expensive switch. But if you have 250-1000 users or less, then here's example of what I might get

Or
That's similar to what I picked for my previous employer, and they work fine.
I really do need almost 48 ports, I admit I'm strange. I have little ethernet-enabled devices everywhere in the house, and because of the aforementioned wireless issues, chose hardwire if available. Things like the Squeezebox Radio I have here in the main room have wireless, but wired is so much better at keeping a connection.
I think the previous person couldn't (or wouldn't) understand that technologies that were expensive 10 years ago are cheap now, or they just wanted to whine.
Ya. The 48 port version is probably another 30 bucks but look for one that has the c3kx NM 1g installed already.
Some sellers throw in the optic if you message them.
BTW if they ran fiber in your house, if the fiber was aqua or orange you need glc-sx-mm . If they ran yellow fiber you need glc-lh-smd.
Good luck
They, being me, ran the fiber. I used multimode OM1 because it's cheap and good to 10G. The SFPs are super-cheap for the Mikrotik devices, that's another reason I like their stuff so much.
Here it is, it's a mess I know. Don't hate me for it. https://pic8.co/sh/XrIQzB.jpg
