Good for your.

There are several mild to severe side effects associated with alcohol detox including psychological and physical effects. One such side effect is alcohol withdrawal itching.

Ignore that article suggesting medical treatment, you can bear through it without pharmakikes.

This has been happening to me as well. Same exact situation. Apparently it's eczema but it doesn't seem that way.

I never had the itches, but my stomach was royally fucked up from not drinking. I didn’t discuss it with a doctor or anything, I kind of figured it out on my own.

The conclusion I came to was that consistent drinking had caused the organisms in my gut (the gut microbes/flora) to be a certain way or at a certain proportion.

I got some probiotics and within a day that shit started fixing itself. In two days all was normal. This was after a week or two of fuckery in my gut after stopping cold turkey.

The other thing I noticed was that random pains throughout my body went away. Before I stopped drinking, I thought the pains were just me getting old. Nope. It was the drinking.

I stopped completely for probably nine months. Now I drink a little every now and then, but nothing like I used to. I don’t have any of the same problems I used to have when I was drinking 6+ beers almost every day.

I don’t know what to tell you as it pertains to staying on the wagon. You have to want to do it.

In my case, my life had fallen apart and I blamed at least an amount of it on alcohol. So I had my reasons for stopping. It wasn’t like I had to really try and fight some urge to drink. I literally didn’t want to at all. I’m glad because had I kept drinking, I would have probably just increased my intake and made my life that much worse. I really don’t believe I would have lived through it all if I had tried to keep drinking during that time. I barely lived through it as it was. Using alcohol to cope would have just made it worse.

The downside is that it took a lot of bad shit happening for me to take that attitude. But that’s what it takes for some people I guess.

This is the way

Well my point is that the best way is being able to determine that you should stop before you incur heavy consequences which then force you to either stop or die.

A zinc deficiency is very easy to determine as found below quite a ways down the page:

https://radiantlifecatalog.com/zinc-assay/

Basically hold this stuff in your mouth if it tastes nasty you have an optimal amount of zinc, if it tastes like water you are deficient.

I dunno about all that other shit people are saying but I do know that zinc isn't bad for you. I take Zicam Cold Remedy Zinc Medicated Fruit Drops, Manuka Honey. Delicious and it's a rare occasion that I ever get sick. It's good for your immune system.

They make a Manuka honey with lemon too if you like that sort of thing, I prefer the regular honey one.

It's liver damage that is making your skin itch. Your liver has probably been fucked by your drinking.

[–] 0 pt

Possibly. Not like I have legions though

So you’ve been scanned and all for lesions/cirrhosis? You might not have lesions, but your liver enzymes are probably out of whack..or where out of whack. Did they check those out?

The good news about the liver is that it can heal itself and return to normal as long as you don’t get to a certain point. If you get scarring, that shit won’t heal but you can stop more of your liver from scarring by laying off the booze. But once it gets to a certain point, you have a life and death issue on your hands.

One of my best friends died about 4 years ago. He was only like 37 or 38 and his liver was shot to hell. Booze killed him. It was an agonizing death and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

No scan. My dad had to quit. He's lucky to be alive. Liver repaired. I'm soon to be 35

Yeah this is a real possibility. Of course it could be something as simple as the air is dry and you can simply put lotion on your skin, drink water to keep your skin hydrated. OTOH, if it is caused from liver disease you need to see a doc that can evaluate the health of your liver.

Keep up the good work and achieving sobriety.

It's winter. The air is dry.

Use a humidifier, could just be dry. I get super itchy when I'm too dry, especially in the winter.

Could be parasites too.
