I'd go even one step further how the heck did they deal with bad dental disease. You got name some beautiful pioneer princess and she smiles on her teeth are jacked like she's been chewing steel. I dated a girl who didn't take care of her teeth and it was pretty awful. She just didn't understand the point of brushing for a sustained amount of time. She had to get a deep cleaning from the dentist and literally her entire mouth was swollen for days afterwards. Pretty fucking disgusting.
Less refined sugars and other attacking foods. If you were lucky you'd been able to get hold of some white sugar for a pie, but that's about it.
Probably less staining drinks as well, coffee and tea would have been a luxury.
