Would you pay more for "locally-owned, locally-refined, artisanal" gasoline? Ethanol-free obviously; many special octanes. I've been kicking this idea around for a few years; possible if you could miniaturize refineries to fit on a couple semi trucks.

You're taxed to subsidize the corn to produce a less effective fuel that destroys your engine over time and also produces more byproducts while being less fuel efficient meaning you have to buy more fuel. That's what going green gets you.
