Protectionism disguised as being "for the people."

Increase "compliance" cost to stamp out little players and protect the existing players. Typical dirty trick.

A corollary:

  • Mid 2000's, the fuckers at Mattel poisoned a bunch of kids with lead contaminated products from China.
  • Public outraged.
  • Congress promises action. "Think of the children."
  • Mattel helps Congress write a set of laws to improve product safety. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Consumer_Product_Safety_Improvement_Act)
  • In 2018, the law passes easily. Waxman (Mr. dual citizenship) and other usual suspects are behind the charge. No surprise.
  • Law is written to require very expensive 3rd party lab testing of products.
  • 100's of small toy manufacturers go out of business because they can't afford the lab fees. Good companies with US made products, family owned businesses, etc. People who actually care about the products and about children are stamped out.
  • Mattel is large enough to pay to certify an "in house" lab for testing so they are exempt from the 3rd party lab testing.
  • "Friends" in the media memory hole this story, as is normal.

Evil fuckers who hurt children win, obviously with the help of "friends" in high places. Small businesses in middle America are trampled. Just another day in good ol' US of A.

Obviously, you don't have to guess too hard to figure out who runs Mattel. https://corporate.mattel.com/executive-leadership

Law is written to require very expensive 3rd party lab testing of products.

This is required for toys but suggest this for things they inject into people and somehow that's "denying science".
