I think the idea is that you are more likely to get sick when you are cold because your immune system is weakened. But you’re right, it sounds kind of like an old wives tale to me but who knows

It think it also has to do with blood circulation, when in cold environments your body restricts bloodflow to certain areas, making it also have less white blood cells

Also people being indoors more in close proximity to others. So really getting out into the cold might be better than being inside. Wearing a jacket to keep warm lets you stay outside more.

People do polar plunges into cold water, outside in the winter in order to strengthen their immune systems.

They don't stay there long term. That is thermal shock. Chronic stress is bad. Short bursts of stress is good.

Why do we catch cold in cold weather? (Harvard Study) - Drbeen Medical Lectures

You know that masks keep your nose warm.

Because there are more people in close spaces due to heat. Not complicated, not watching the video.

People typically stayed indoors with others durring harsh winters. So virus spread. Always happens when its winter, so it must be the cold.

Because being cold suppresses your immune system.

We've all got viruses in our system all the time. We only notice them when they begin to multiply unchecked by our immune system. When you are cold, hungry, or tired, your body cannot contain the viruses as well as when you are well-rested, well-fed and warm. That's why prolonged exposure to cold and wet can bring on a cold or a flu.

[–] 2 pts

Bacterial infection? Or maybe it keeps your immune system humming so you fiight off the virus.

[–] 2 pts

Being cold wears you down. When you are tired, you are more susceptible to getting sick.

Just a statement to show concern, that's what mothers do instead of saying "I Love you". Most families don't tell other family members; I Love you, I can't remember anyone saying "I Love You" during my childhood unless it was on television. There's a lot of insincere feel good statements people make to relay concern without actually committing to it. I opine it has nothing to do with them worrying about you getting cold but by telling you to bundle up, they have an out; I told you to bundle up and now you are sick, not my fault...

getting sick has nothing to do with viruses.
i think it is lack of good food, acidity in blood, high stress (cortisol), lack of exercise (funny how kids never get gym time anymore), morphological fields (other people's energy, energy vampires), living in a marxist society (nothing like a jail with no walls to make you sick), excessive masterbation (eats your testosterone like nothing else), constant poisons in your life (in the water, in your food, in the air, in your medicines)

Now explain why young women at a rate of 50% or so, have a mental illness? colds seem quaint. half the women you meet are fucked. that is unexplainable? our culture is sick.

Then let someone with active cold sores on their mouth give you an unprotected blowjob. If you're eating healthy and exercising then you'll be perfectly fine, right? Do lots of open mouth kissing with tongue too just to prove how viruses don't relate to getting sick.

high stress

I’ve pretty much stopped worrying about anything and everything and I haven’t been sick since I’ve been managing my stress levels.

You are retarded. Bacteria and viruses are real.

Social media. They trade interacting with real people and having real bonds and relationships for getting likes.

Stay warm enough to not get hypothermia.

Russians, Finns, and a whole host of Nordic and northern-climate indigenous peoples do polar plunges and cold therapy treatments and have less ailments. Now, I'm sure part of that is genetic, as their ancestors also did that for millenia,, and they've inherited the genetic response to tolerating cold weather and being stronger with stronger immune systems, but it makes you think...
