I’m watching this guy go down. It fucking sucks. First wife was abusive and violent enough that they awarded custody of the two kids (toddlers) to an actual man. So I assume she was as bad as he says. Ugh. Fuck. Long story short, he’s a very rare excellent young man who can’t get childcare because he’s broke, and can’t work without childcare. He’s gonna lose his kids, I think. He’s a very fine tradesman.

It just pisses me off that someone like him gets completely fucked by the women in his life. It’s bad. It’s a long story that involves some typical females destroying men shit and it bothers me. He may be twice the man I am, but they fucking tore him down.

Is it possible that could give up his kids for a year and get them back? Is that a thing?

Update! Hooked him up with a job and he’s borrowing one of my vehicles until his truck is fixed. Found him childcare for less than the daycare he couldn’t afford. He’s looking into welfare.

In his words, “It was a good day”.
I’ve never seen someone swing that hard in one day. It’s tenuous, but that’s a long way from fooked.

There's truth to that, however, reckless young men can make mistakes, and then turn into good, hard working men.

While you should definitely vet the mother of your children, I'm not going to condemn as a lost cause someone who rushed into something, or hell even just outright didn't care when picking up bimbos, but then when the chips are down to take care of their kids tries to get their stuff together.

How much better would the world be if more folks were like, "Yep, I fucked up, and this is gonna be tough, but now what do I need to do to unfuck the mess I made the best I can?" I'd venture a lot.

Cluster B arseholes often hide behind a damn good mask and can do so for a long time. They eventually out themselves, but it can take a long time with the particularly malignant ones.

I will give some weight to the prodigal son excuse when it only impacts him. Once he brings innocent children into the world, then he's a child abuser and it carries no weight.

For much the same reason that pounding a fifth of vodka and waking up in your yard is self-destructive but readily forgivable. Pounding vodka and then running over some kids is not. And that comparison is dead on - the stats for single parenting outcomes are a shitshow.

If we were talking about an evaluation of what does this guy deserves you could certainly make the case he deserves no breaks coming his way.

But here we are talking about innocent kids who got no vote in their parentage. Whether he deserves it or not aside, the best option is an avenue for him to be able to get things together and be able to have a decent life to take care of the kids. Kids are certainly best off in responsible nuclear families. But the kids are a lot better off in a dingle parent home with a parent who is trying their best with the situation they made with a reasonable avenue to a decent life than with a parent who doesn't care at all or a society that says, "Fuck 'em, sins of the father."

He can give them up for adoption. If memory serves, something like 10-20% of couples have fertility problems. And given the extensive vetting process...they'll have their shit together and exhibit at least a modicum of wisdom in partner selection.
