smart is not the same as a decent memory. I have a decent memory for dumb shit I will never need to know.

I recall being told about it at some point in an art class i wasnt interested in, but attending because of a girl i was interested in. he was french douchbag or something...

It was a fictional character in La Comedia del Arte. A sort of jester with flashy clothing.

It's proto neo theater from the Renaissance.

Harlequin is also now known for the pattern of his trousers. Checkered losanges tilted on its diamond angle.

looks to me like you looked that up

[–] 3 pts

Nope. I'm french speaking Belgian. We use that word in french for the pattern look. For example, the pattern of Burlington Sox is harlequin.

Another fun fact about harlequin : the character Harley Quinn comes from harlequin and both of the characters have the same patterned trousers and jester look

the character Harley Quinn comes from harlequin

Kind of like the character King Farquad comes from fuckwad.

He means a Harlequin Great Dane, which refers to a coat pattern said to be reminiscent of the jester costuming.

If I remember correctly its a version of what we'd consider a court jester.

Well my ignorant ass was going to say whore.

I'm an idiot.

I thought the same

We're thinking harlot

[–] 2 pts

I know it from "harlequin fetus" so I'm very biased toward that. But I'd assume it stems from something to do with a facsimile of a doll or something. Exaggerated doll-like features.

1a capitalized : a character in comedy and pantomime with a shaved head, masked face, variegated tights, and wooden sword

nope

Rofl you're bad at English if you think that's a flat nope. It's pretty close.

Seems like it's a French or Italian clown.

The original pre-comedia definition is actually referring to an ancestor of the Playwrighr Molliere. The Duke of Lesoth, Quine de Mül Orre, who had a friend named Pete. When Pete wanted a beer, he would say to The Duke, “Harl ye beer Quine!”. Eventually, communists moved into the neighborhood and subverted the patriarchy and murdered everyone and France was born. Truth.
