I tend to think of left and right as up and down now. Generally, leftists want to remove boundaries and lower standards. This would actually be appropriate if the government were demanding people walk up vertical walls unassisted. Yes, we need to tone it down. The left of many decades ago was a negative, destructive force to a strong, stable society. Now you are really a corrupt, idiot if you think we need less boundaries and standards than what we have now.
This a focus on social policy. The financial things are riddled with corruption. Right wingers want people to work for everything and pull up their bootstraps and all that. There's no acknowledgement of how bad the system is fucking people. Meanwhile, the left wants everything for free and of course this includes for anybody who just walks in here. There is a grain of goodness and reason in this, but with the left, the real implementation of things are always a disaster. It would be good if those who are most capable of being successful and amassing wealth would seek to help the general people of their society instead of hording as much as they can for themselves. This unrestrained hording is allowed and justified by the right. Generally, right wingers are doing okay and lefties are struggling. So the lefties want the free stuff and the right wingers insist on work and all that.
One more point about the left. Their opinions are not organic and are actually manufactured by the system. Right wing values of race, God, country tend to be organic values coming from inside the person and their family and all that. There was no government or system that put them there. The system tends to exploit these things, though, to amass a controlled opposition based upon them.
