I won't answer this for everything. But don't over look the magic of a skillet.
For example, cold, day old pizza.
Heat up a little bit of olive oil in a pan. Fry the bottom of the pizza a little bit to get it nice & crispy. Cover with a lid for a few minutes to trap in the heat to melt the top. It is awesome.

I've heard this before but I always just use the oven and it works well.

I've been doing this for a while. Food turns out better than using the microwave, especially for things like french fries.
