Would really love to own one. Been waiting 50 years.
I second what is telling you. A nice Tacoma 4x4 is just that, nice. They have really good reputations. Which is why they are hard to come by used these days. And you'll pay a premium in the used market.
Dang. I would definitely consider one, they're probably great trucks.
Go with the Tacoma 4x4. Jeep products are problematic, owned by Stellantis and run like Fiat. The Ford Bronco has all kinds of recalls, roof peeling, splitting fuel injectors causing fires - with no solution yet. Too many issues ... hencho en Mexico.
Good grief, pathetic.
In general, I doubt I'll buy anything newer than 2010. The cars/trucks are getting too electrified and computer controlled. They have electronic parking brakes now! What used to be metal engine parts are becoming plastic engine parts to lower costs - but plastic deteriorates over the years of hot cold cycles under the hood. Some cars have dozens of computers controlling various systems on the newer cars/trucks, very expensive to replace and may be made of "unobtanium" in 20 years.
Not to mention, Toytota trucks are made here in the USA. with lots of US produced parts, built to the legendary reliability.
To own a Wrangler?
If so, find a older model, swap in an LS and modern trans from a wrecked camaro.
The 4.0 I6, is fair, and if maintained well, and not beat on. Can last a couple hundred K miles. Good luck finding one not beat on and maintained well, unless you are wiling to pay a premium for it.
The new ones (post 2013ish) are made by Fiat... I wouldn't touch a mechanical fiat product with a 10 meter cattle prod.

Had no idea. Sounds like what I've heard about Jaguar, different owner screwed their reputation.
Volvo is now a chinese company.
Chinese manufacturers already sell cars in the US. Jag, is part of Indian Tata Motors I believe. Or some other indian one... So Indians already sell cars in the US.
