Late 90s anyway. Now they are making as much out of plastic as possible. The small stuff gets brittle, and when you have to tear things apart to fix something, they can easily break in disassembly/assembly.

My one flaw with the toy 5.7 in the tundra/sequioa a plastic oil filter interface.

The exact same part is made for a different engine, in aluminum. Its literally go to dealer, order part for camry v6, put on 5.7 v8, move on with life and less plastic.

Lets not even mention the plastic thermostat housing on my Audi TT. An after market aluminum one is available and everyone puts it on, at the first time they need to crack the system open.
