I heard there is also a "modernized layman / english version of the bible". Do you if this is true and it's good to also have? You might say, it's not the original translation therefor it's 'fake / untrue'. Ya but if I can't understand the Robin Hoodish, Robin Hoodish, Robin Hoodish version of english in the bible then I ain't getting the 'right translation' there either.

Thanks!

I can plainly see that you don't believe that the Bible is the word of God. the Bible

Which "the Bible" would that be, exactly? You seemed very careful not to specify. You seem to argue in absolutes that are, in fact, no such thing.

Not the whole thing, not directly, no, it's not. "The Bible", as you like to say it, didn't even exist until about 1,100 years after Christ walked the Earth. Like any other creations of men, it has been through so many iterations, translations, mistranslations, etc. that, while it may still contain within it some of the word of God, it can only be in part t this point. Not the whole.

We already know that there were entire books of scripture that were left out when the Council of Nicene decided what would be allowed in, to constitute "The Bible". And that was at the very beginning of what would be written down and accepted. By men.

And men are, as you have illustrated so well, imperfect, and it is their doom that they forget.

You might just as well tell me to take Homer's "The Iliad" (written a mere 700 years after the Trojan War) as the whole factual truth of the actual events at Troy.

So I will pray to God, not a book. And take any of his words that are still claimed to be contained in "The Bible" under advisement. Your words have the stench of matzoh about them, friend.

the people in Israel are the false jews that the word of god warns us about... if you read the Bible, you would understand that. you, to me, are the one who sounds kiked.

good luck splitting hairs picking and choosing your own made up religion though, I guess. I hope it works out ok for you.

I'll pray for you in any case.

if you read the Bible

Once again I notice that you are very careful not to specify which one, rabbi.

I keep it simple, friend. I pray to the one, true God.

I'll leave it to people like you to deal with those who have appointed themselves as the various intermediaries of the sundry flavors that all claim to speak on His behalf. Good luck with figuring out which of those isn't "made up".

... you're on a slippery slope. it's pretty simple. the Bible is the word of god, guided by his hand. you don't need a mediator for that. you don't need a pope for that. if the Bible says something is wrong, then it's wrong. see How simple that is? having an argument over what God intended? well, what does it literally say in the bible? simple as.

anything more, or anything less is an abomination of his will and his word. see how simple that is?

in any case, I hope you have a great day.
