Definitely go with the Smith Corona Galaxy ... I owned one for many years, very reliable as long as you can find good quality cloth ribbons for it. Use a toothbrush with alcohol to scrub the striking keys to keep them from plugging up with ink.

You can probably get a second-hand IBM Selectric for not too much money. That was the ultimate in electric typewriters, prior to computerization. That's what I'd go with if I wanted a typewriter, as opposed to a computer.

Get something with automatic carriage return. You are not going to want to do that manually.

Come to think about it. That might just be my young self talking

I didn't know homerow which forced me to stare down at the keyboard and would often type off the page unwittingly before I realized where I was.

That would never happen to anyone who could type without looking at the keyboard, and so maybe that's not very important.
