I'm thankful that I was given a gift at birth that in part compensated for my impediments. I'm thankful that I found enough self-control throughout my life, so far, not to kill anyone. I'm thankful that I have a body and mind that are better than the bodies and minds of most other human beings. I'm thankful that I was born into a time and place in history where I was not forced to join an army and kill people I don't know, and where no other strangers were actively trying to kill me. I am thankful that, genetically speaking if not place of birth, I am an Englishman.
