I've never used one, but it seem like a nice product. Italian made expresso coffee at home, looks simple to use and clean. What is not to like?

really seems to know his stuff on coffee

Wow that's a lot of detail!

I don't think he has enough moka pots though.

reminds of when I was in a Mexican hotel and asked what kind of coffee they gave me. His answer: "Nes Coffee" They used NesCafe instant.

Moka was the standard style of coffee in northern Italy for years. Espresso was invented by a company that was tired of how long the workers took to make their coffee with the mocha during their break. The other style is the Napolitano, also a great way to make coffee. Both are inexpensive and have been handed down for generations. don't forget a good hand grinder.

I already have an electric grinder. Is there much of a difference?

[–] 2 pts

No, but if there is no power, you can't make coffee and the hand grinders tend to last generations as well. I have my grandmothers grinder my cousin has her moka.

[–] 2 pts

I'll eat the beans if I have to! :)

If my electric breaks a hand grinder sounds like a good replacement.

FYI you do not have the exact espresso, to have that you need pressurized water and that is not what you have in a moka

well, at least in the "normal" moka

someone may have made a model that will have a pressure/temperature profile equivalent

they are really cheap, so, try

[–] 2 pts

Yes an important distinction.

[–] 2 pts

pressure/temperature

The most important aspect. But also Water pH plays an important part.

well.... yeah, ok, true

after some pilgrimage I settled on this https://www.lauretana.com/eng/

for the coffee maker, mostly because the VERY LOW residual on the parts (so, you end up cleaning quite rarely)

let's say that a lot depends on what kind of water comes out of your tap

Hey man, what the fuck is this?

I loaded up the webpage you linked to see what you guys were talking about and saw all these white people. It really fucking felt weird to see that and that’s infuriating. Even the scientist/doctor’s hands aren’t that of a greasy nigger.

I encourage any American who’s seeing this to go to that product page link to see what I mean.

Absolutely, just make sure to buy proper coffee and preheat the water before you put the coffee in so it doesn't burn it.

[–] 0 pt

I didn't do this and I burnt the coffee. Now the pot makes nasty tasting coffee and I had to throw it away.

It depends, do you really need it? Personally when it comes to coffee I dump instant coffee in hot water, or cold water sometimes (summer mostly)

Moka pot stove-top coffee maker

If you're in a setting where electricity isn't readily available for regular home devices (off grid or at sea for instance), and instant coffee is something you don't want, then yeah it's worth it I guess

The instant coffee I use is the only brand I can drink all day long without having the downsides of all the more mainstream brands such as maxwell and shit; headaches, stomach "pain" (you feel like you're sick), kicking heart beat, etc

I have a Keurig which is okay, but not exactly the best quality coffee. I don't buy the k cups I use one of those refillable basket things.

Not a huge fan on instant and I do have a percolator I use for off grid, aka camping.

What brand instant coffee do you use please? Herrooo? Thank you!

Gtfo glowie

Instant coffee that doesn't give the shits, sour stomach is hard to find. Maybe don't be a hater mmmk? Happy Thanksgiving. Please consider sharing what brand you use. Thanks!

YES! CON-SUUUUUUMME FAGGOT! CONNN-SUUUUUUUUUMMMME!

[–] 3 pts

I would like to consume some fine quality coffee.

It's funny you drop that meme on me. Anyone who pays attention knows I'm a very frugal person who lives below his means. I very rarely purchase things for myself which is why I am trying to gauge if this is a worthwhile purchase.

[–] 2 pts

Yeah. I was just messing with you. Most folks on here are frugal. Or, at least they talk like they are.

[–] 1 pt

Ah ok, I wasn't sure.

We're some of the only sane people left on this planet.

It's an easy way to make good coffee so why not. I would stay away from aluminum one's though.

But when it comes to coffee, real men .

Used one for years to make Vietnamese coffee. Good stuff.
