Solid chance that the petty theft laws are designed to weaken physical storefronts, but they don’t need stores to close in order to normalize digital currency. Stores will already accept digital currency if you have a card that says Visa on it

Amazon packages get stolen all the time and Amazon pays for the losses, last time I checks 1.7 million packages get stolen per day

They can write off the lost inventory on their taxes. They pretend to be woke to encourage people to steal from their stores. It's just a piece to the puzzle, though, not the whole thing.
