Apparently Fedex is firing a bunch of people during Christmas season, everyone is laying off. Just how bad is it out there?

The worst is yet to come.

Entire logistics and supply chain is still completely fucked.

Everyone got used to getting things slowly so they just aren't complaining as much, but some goods are still on indefinite manufacturing holds.

Entire world has gone Galt, the Engine of the World is creaking to a stop.

What comes next will be glorious. Most of you probably won't make it.

I don't believe in bitcoin I believe in brave attention tokens...

Ok

No seriously, for me personally, bitcoin is impracticable for daily real life use, nobody accepts bitcoin for payment IRL, I mean generally speaking you can always find a geek somewhere that would accept it, and that's about it

I can't even pay my taxes with it, and I'm not more relaxed with it than I'm with classic fund transfer when it comes to donations toward poal for instance, however brave attention tokens solve this problem since I don't have to buy the said tokens in the first place with any currency... And then I can donate my brave attention tokens to poal.... Which in turn can be converted into real currency by poal

That's the only crypto I use, not only because it's very handy and super cheap and effective, but also because it provides a real solution to a real problem, guilt by association is a thing where I'm at if you see what I mean

The farmers are forced to increase prices, but the markets aren't moving in response. It's going to get ugly and it started in the spring.

Construction is slowing a little bit that's normal for going into winter. I keep getting requests for bids so there's still people trying to spend money. Trades still are short people so our wages should stay high

Well.. the past 7 years the lil ol' company I work for has exceeded it's profit goals, year after year. This year, we've come up short $800 million from our goal. The covid hoax is catching up to us, whereas we thought we've been lucky. New product development is near frozen... most silicon we want is 1 year 2 years 3 years out from being restocked. Things aren't looking so shiny from where I'm sitting. I did the strikeout thing with the years just so you know what it's been like.

I can't say it's all doom and gloom though. I've been fascinated by old tech for as long as I can remember, and one thing I know is that tight constraints breed creativity. This has already led to some interesting new developments recently. Can't say what, yet... Ok Ok one of them is I figured out how to get a clean signal from an UNREGULATED AFE! That's all I'm saying.

The Indian recruiting houses are blowing up my phone for UPS temp jobs. Can't be all bad but you know it's not good.

But the worst is yet to come, The worst is yet to come, You won't know what it's all about Or where it's coming from.

I have no intention of even considering one of those. Last one I sent a single line reply "You're not matching the booleans very well."

[–] 1 pt (edited )

I think I paid about average of 12 dollars per granny Smith apple tree on my property... they produce literal bushels a year.

prune 10 minutes in the winter and 1 lb of fertilizer in the spring. pennies.
