Become more self sufficient. I'll leave fixing a transmission to the pros, but I'll handle oil changes no problem. Start small, grow confidence and learn as you go.

What do you have going for you in the US?

Space among other things, lots of empty spaces with fuckall for miles around

What do you need? Food, shelter, water, heat, a couple of telecommunication/electronic devices running on low intensity current (12v), such as phone and laptop so you can shitpost and keep tab on what's going on, and have some fun. Guns and ammo, a couple of medical supplies in case of emergency, painkillers...

Also, no debt, very important, usury is a bitch...

Building a tran or fixing one VS a oil change is not the best analogy or metaphor.

That is major surgeries vs taking a splinter out.

People do act like I just performed surgery when I tell them I changed the oil. Takes all of 15 minutes, which is mostly waiting, but everyone is so inept these days that the most basic of things are astonishing to them. Its quite sad.

I cooked up some spam and eggs for breakfast this morning. The spam had an expiration date of Mar 2015. It was still good. Those sealed meats last a lot longer than the expiration date shows. It also helps if you've got the digestive system of a garbage disposal.

I've been thinking about going to Ecuador. Looks pretty it's got beaches and got mountains and it's always 65°. And the sun goes up and down every 12 hours no seasons. I can't speak a shit bit of Spanish but does that really matter.

They loved Equador so much, they decided to leave it after 18 months. First they settled on the coast of Equador in the village of San Jacinto. Then they moved south to Puerto Lopez. Then they moved to Girón, a small town in the mountains. After six more months they moved to Loja. So in 18 months they lived in four different places in Equador, in addition to traveling around Equador constantly on "vacations." Then? Guess what? Back to Canada ... because they loooooovvveeeed Equador so damn much.

Fucking flakes. And they're not even going back to where they came from. They lived on the East Coast of Canada, now they plan on living on the West Coast. Talk about rootless. To be honest I don't really care if I only talk to people who speak my language. I fumbled my way through Mexico when I was there a couple years ago. sure I said a bunch of stupid shit but I had Google translate on my phone which helped out a lot. Sure I couldn't talk to Hector who was sitting next to me at the bar who just wanted to shoot the shit about shitty tecate beer but I didn't care much. A lot of times a gringo would come to my rescue if I screwed up at the grocery store and forgot to bring my money and I had to explain to the cashier that I didn't bring enough money into the store. that was pretty embarrassing actually but that only happened once. you hear all the time about people moving to the southeast Asia and they don't speak the languages they just go. How is that any different? They had money, if you move from Nova Scotia to Vancouver Island you're not poor by any means. I'm nowhere as rich as them that's for sure. I would probably stay in the big city. That way I have a better chance of becoming anonymous. I'm not a fan of cities at all but I would have the most resources to figure things out. This won't happen tomorrow by any means probably 5 to 7 years.

Join a compound void of monetary interests for the sole purpose of survival. Compounds need 24/7 surveillance, indefinite food, and an armory.

Think 60+ acre homestead with 60kW of solar, 200kWh of battery, Aquaponics, an armory or two, watch towers, fenced with razor wire and dozens of night vision cameras. Everyone on the property needs to be proficient with guns, food, medicine, and communication. HAM radios will become the new Internet very shortly, I recommend investing $100 and a couple weeks into a HAM radio license.
