TBH, about 2/3 of the commentary I write gets the cancel or back button. That's most of it.

A lot of the time I get to the end of writing a good long comment, only to read it back and think to myself "you know what, nobody gives a shit." Or "I don't actually give a shit." And this one "shut up turret, you don't even really know what the hell you're talking about."

Yes, I do this too. I have another concern since this place is so heavily monitored and that’s how much am I sharing about myself and do I want to elevate my concern rating with whatever agency is concerned about this particular post.

I have had some good banter from time to time, even ones that started out more adversarial ended up in positive ways.

Yes and fairly often. Each time it is pretty much the same sequence of events leading to canceling as you outlined as well. I also started cutting and pasting my comment into a blank text document instead of just deleting it. Not every one, but some of them. If I feel like I still want to make that comment after an hour or the next morning, then it's there. If not, it gets erased. Nearly all end up getting erased.

I do the same thing for email/correspondence to protect against auto-logouts and also to refine prose. Good point.

I know AOU has that draft feature that people can use and just hit that under the comment to save it on-site, but I prefer to keep as much as I can local.

Yeah I'd probably keep it local as well, since another reason I bail on a comments is that it contains too much personal info. It's like damn, I really want to tell some stories.. but they're just too specific; would lead to a dox. Wouldn't want to keep them stored as draft online, either.

A good portion of the time I notice that someone else already made a comment that made the same point, so I delete mine.

That’s the one that gets me. A bit ago I asked if people say sawzall or reciprocating saw. Got like 10 needlenecks explaining the difference instead of answering the question.

Yes. As I approach the end of writing it, I realize the dumb shit some retarded faggot is going ro reply with, then decide I don't want to deal with it. I don't even want to see the white font number appear in the blue bubble beside the envelope. So I delete it.

It is still cathartic to put the thoughts into written words. It helps give form to feeling. It also helps to organize your thoughts.

Yes because it’s starts to go mentally retarded at some point and I’m like fuck it. Don’t have the time to fix it and it’s not succinct enough. The point is already out there. It’s tru. But I’m not trying to discourage anyone. I get the important shit out there.
