plenty of times
Yes
Just like a sport, you train yourself, repetition
You quit for a month and relapsed over the week end? Keep going with the detox program, the lesser you drink the better, that you know. As long as there are MUCH MORE days without alcohol than days with alcohol you know it's a good thing, it pays
And maybe it's going to be like that for most of your days, so what? It's not a drama, there will be ups and downs and eventually one day it's behind you, you don't even need to think about quitting anymore, because you quit, it's gone, you don't feel like you need a drink for anything, you're detoxed and you're into something else, like, idk a relationship or whatever
I respect you 0K I was gonna add more but its not needed
You already know, and have stated it here, but I want to double up on it.
Drinking, diet, wanking, smoking, ... If you fuck up for a day, tell yourself "Man, that was a stupid choice. I'll feel less shitty tomorrow, when I get back on the path." Then, get back on the path, forgive yourself for yesterday, and let it go.
(Of course, if your choice has led to hospitalization or incarceration, you might want to put a reminder on a post-it somewhere visible.)
