Place was downsizing without trying to admit to downsizing while trying to still get COVID money for retaining workers so they fired 1/6th of the workers at the site, across all levels, and some just before retirement. All were fired "for cause". No specific cause for any single person.

Yeah they did it over phone calls too. Saved me a trip at least. In any event I had another job the same week through a staffing agency.
This last time around I refused to do the staffing agency thing and felt like I needed a secretary with all the interviews.
