I'm pushing half a century soon and i'd like to do some more international travel. i used to rent a car and sleep in the back when i traveled previously, but that can make for some uncomfortable evenings. so for the bucks and does on here who don't want to spend $300 a night on a fine star hotel, let alone even 100, how do hostels work for middle-aged people? is it even a thing?

I did that a while back for a month. Bit pricey for a single traveler, but a smooth option to have inside info from the host.

That's just it, I'd be traveling on my own. And I don't need a gigantic space. I just want to have sound sleep. Maybe I should just go back to renting a car and bringing a cheap tent, sleeping bag and whatnot for camping.

Tent or hammock+tarp is a great way to find peaceful spots.
