I'm pushing half a century soon and i'd like to do some more international travel. i used to rent a car and sleep in the back when i traveled previously, but that can make for some uncomfortable evenings. so for the bucks and does on here who don't want to spend $300 a night on a fine star hotel, let alone even 100, how do hostels work for middle-aged people? is it even a thing?

Unfortunately, from my perspective and experience, not in Europe.

I'm following this girl on Instagram right now who's in Southeast Asia and it looks to be pretty cheap. Although it's stupidly humid which I'm not really a fan of but she looks like she's having fun. I think she's in her late 20s early 30s and she's staying in hostels. That's kind of why I was asking the question. Yes I thought about asking her these questions but she doesn't answer anything that I ask her so I don't bother anymore.
