The car was falling apart and she didn't want to spend any money on it, and since the car had been her now ex-husband's she didn't actually need it. If memory serves she ended up paying out the lease term so that she didn't ruin her credit rating. The irony being that she signed for it originally because her husband's credit rating was garbage but he needed a car for work.
My advice wasn't necessarily bad in the sense that it didn't make matters worse for her. But you are absolutely correct I didn't have the faintest fuck of an idea what I was talking about. Certainly not the first nor the last time that happened.
