In our conversations around the campfire about what plant-based (dmt psychedelics) medicine healing is i notice he was very defensive of the practice and would not entertain anything other than absolute seriousness regarding his field of work. i tend to think it's all snake oil salesman bullshit. to be honest i don't really believe in any type of self-help or psychiatric help. what say you chaps and chapettes?

I have personally found it helpful for behavioral and thought modification. It helped cure depression for me.

How did it help and why did it help if you don't mind sharing non-personals. Could you have gotten that way by just thinking about life differently?

Something about psychedelics causes pretty intense introspection. Removes any barriers you may have unconsciously set up in your mind. Think of the "elephant tied to a stick with a string" analogy. Some things are so common and natural to think about, and psychedelics can shake that up. I've never had any hallucinations on psychedelics either, just shifts in perception. High quality and life changing experiences, that last months to years even.

Why is it / was it a super intense crime to grow mushrooms, make LSD, etc? Yet fentanyl is everywhere now. Why aren't there "mushroom addicts" like there are alcoholics or prescription addicts?

Not that I totally disagree with you, but I think psychedelics should be of concern given the US governments long standing interest in them. I mean they took a bunch of riled up college kids who were ready for cultural revolution and turned them into drug warped hippies who became pacifists, followed by the sexual revolution and the destruction of the family. As someone who has personally gone down this road, I think they government uses its illicit status to breed taboo as a means to on-ramp the younger generations to the program.

I remember as an 18-year-old taking LSD for the first time. The visuals were beyond insane and the self-reflection was just as intense. The trip lasted for a total of 24 hours. Go deep or go home I guess right. I felt a change in my persona and perceptions. It didn't really last but it lasted long enough to make me questioned everything that was around me. Whether good or bad it made me question everything.

I was stuck in the same thoughts and actions day after day and even after the actions stopped the thought patterns and circular thinking remained. Psychedelics helped me to break away from them and get over the death of a loved one. I'm sure it could have eventually been resolved with living and time.

Interesting, circular patterns. I think we can all say we've experienced this in our personal psyche. Or maybe not, I know I can say I have. I do wonder if there's a way to break out of these patterns without the use of medicine like you say with time. It heals all wounds but sometimes time takes too long and maybe this medicine is a gift from God to help us move faster to heal and move forward in life, recharged and productive once more. This might sound kind of out there but maybe this medicine could be the Holy Spirit of sorts.
